The Best Places in Turkey For a Family Break

If you’re looking for a great spot to head for your family break this summer, Turkey has some fantastic resorts and hotels to choose from. Yes, some resorts are party based, but there is not one resort which is family averse! The weather is fantastic, the people are welcoming, it’s cheap, and you’re sure to have a seriously good time.

So, where are some of the best places to go in Turkey for a family break?

It really does depend on what you want to enjoy during your time, and it’s entirely possible to enjoy a spot of city break fun in Istanbul with the kids. This is a city that caters for everyone, and they can enjoy the many leisure activities, as well as learning something about history and culture too.

It’s more likely however that you’re going to be focusing your time on a beach resort, this being the summer and everything, and in that case, you’re spoilt for choice.

Every single resort is an all-rounder, but there are some which are more family focused than others.

Let’s talk about some of the best resorts for a family break.

Icmeler

Icmeler is a fantastic choice, because not only is it close to the bigger and livelier resort of Marmaris (just 10 minutes by local bus), but it’s also got one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Icmeler is also ideal for being close to some great natural spots, and you can easily take a boat trip around the coastline, perhaps a pirate boat if you want something a little different, as well as a jeep safari into the countryside, where there is a water fight awaiting you! There is also the Dalyan mud baths within close reach, which the kids will love too.

The nightlife in Icmeler is much more sedate compared to Marmaris, but its still lively. You’ll find fun pubs aplenty, and hotels usually have kids clubs with evening entertainment too.

Olu Deniz

Olu Deniz is known for being a great family spot, and although it has bright and vibrant nightlife, there isn’t an over the top feel this this resort. The beach is also stunning, and the Blue Lagoon is located in this resort too. You can get out and about and enjoy some excursions too, such as a boat trip and again, a jeep safari, and you can venture over to neighbouring resorts with ease too.

Olu Deniz is the paragliding hotspot of Turkey, so if you have older children, perhaps teenagers, who love a little outdoor adventure, then this could be a resort you have on your short list.

Kusadasi

Kusadasi is a little like Marmaris, a large and lively resort, but it is not quite so wild. That’s not to say that Marmaris is family adverse, because it has some great spots for families to enjoy, but Kusadasi lacks the sometimes over the top nightlife that Marmaris can occasionally lay claim to.

Kusadasi has a great beach, it has some fantastic water park fun on offer, and there are plenty of fun pubs and nightlife options that are ideal for families with children of all ages. There are also many hotels which cater for families in terms of kids clubs too, so this could be something to look into also.

These are three of the best resorts on the south coast for families to enjoy. There are others too, such as the aforementioned Marmaris, Alanya, Side, Lara Beach, Bodrum, and Gumbet, but in term of totally focused family fun, the three we have talked about should definitely be high up on your hit list.
