If you’re in Istanbul and you’re looking to get away from all the commotion and the city heat, the right choice for you is probably one of the city’s parks and gardens, and there is a wide range for you to choose from. Since it is known that Istanbul is a city of great culture and art, you can rest assured that its parks, gardens and the rest of its breathing spots are top-notch in terms of beautiful architecture and grooming. A lot of those places have rich history and are of great importance to the city’s heritage. Some of them have actually been built as parts of palaces and private gardens of notable persons throughout Istanbul’s history, but were later made public good, mostly during the beginning of the Republic. In the warmer months, you will find a lot of local residents there trying to cool off and get in touch with the nature. In the spring, during the Istanbul Tulip Festival, two of the city’s parks, Gulhane Park and Emirgan Park turn into something different with amazing colors all around. Unfortunately, despite this city’s unique blend of various cultures and strategic historical importance, it hasn’t been able to stay immune to the modern disease of urbanization which has turned some of the green areas into construction sites. However, there is still plenty of nature in this modern metropolis for you to enjoy, and below you will find a list with some of them which are worth mentioning.
