Opened in 2005, this mall is considered one of the key venues of Istanbul, which tells a lot when this city’s rich touristic potential is taken into account.

In terms of gross leasable area, Cevahir Mall was the largest in Europe from 2005 to 2011, and is still deemed one of the largest in the world. The full scale of this mall’s greatness can be experienced only when you’re standing beneath the building’s 2,500 m2 glass roof, surrounded by its 20-floor high walls with stunning decorations and the second largest clock in the world attached to the ceiling. In six retail floors, the mall houses over 300 stores for an ultimate shopping experience with a vast diversity in shopping categories and a full range of brands. When the size of the place and the alluring shops tire you out, there are 34 fast food restaurants and 14 exclusive restaurants over two floors for you to get some rest and share some quality food with your companions.

If you’re not a fan of shopping and you’re still not attracted by the breath-taking appearance of this venue, you should know that this is not all that it has to offer. With 12 movie theaters, including a cinema for kids and a private theatre, it is a good place to spend a couple of hours enjoying quality films. Not a big fan of moving pictures? No worries, the Istanbul Cevahir Mall probably still has something to offer you. Perhaps you could check out the mall’s bowling hall or the Atlantis centre. The Atlantis centre is a limitless entertainment centre enclosed in the Cevahir Mall. It is a covered theme park which offers you plenty of ways to have fun, with rides such as a free falling tower, a spinning octopus and – believe it or not – a roller-coaster which spans the interior of the shopping centre.

Let’s say you’ve decided to visit this modern jewel of Istanbul; now you’re probably wondering how to get there. The address is Büyükdere Cad. No. 22 Şişli, and if you do not want to get a taxi, you can easily reach Cevahir Mall by taking one of the city’s metro lines. If you take the ‘Sishane – Taksim – Darussafaka’ line, you should get out at the Mecidiyekoy/Sisli stop and the entrance is available through the underground. If you were to take the ‘Sogutlucesme – Zincirlikuyu – Avcilar’ line and get out at the Mecidiyekoy stop, you could walk to the mall, which is located right on the left after passing Buyukdere Street.
